The Reclaim & Rise Difference
What equine-assisted psychotherapy really is.
Equine-assisted psychotherapy is much more than simply spending time with horses. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I integrate evidence-based therapeutic approaches with carefully planned interactions alongside the horses.
Each session begins by talking about what you would like to work on—whether that is anxiety, trauma, grief, stress, or another concern. We may then engage in activities such as grooming, leading, or mindfulness exercises. I use those experiences to help you process emotions, recognize patterns, build coping skills, and work toward your treatment goals.
The horses are not “doing the therapy”—they are part of the therapeutic process. Their ability to respond honestly and without judgment can help clients become more aware of their emotions, improve communication, and practice being present in the moment.
There is no horseback riding involved. Everything takes place on the ground in a safe, supportive environment, and you may decline any activity without losing access to psychotherapy.
